Book Launch: "Your Love is Not Good" - Johanna Hedva in Conversation with Legacy Russell

  • Géza 306 Maujer Street Brooklyn, NY, 11206 United States (map)

Johanna Hedva is joined by curator and critic Legacy Russell in a conversation about “Your Love Is Not Good”, Johanna’s most recent novel published by And Other Stories.

Blending personal trauma, desire, professional ambition, and calls to decolonize art institutions, the novel “stuffs queer explosive into the cracks between identity and aspiration, between desire and art, and revels in the raining debris.” Legacy and Johanna will discuss from within these cracks.

This event is part of Amant’s “Dear Reader” series, an occasional, yet focused forum that presents publications (some in process, some existing, some beginning to see the light).

Johanna Hedva is a Korean American writer, artist, and musician, who was raised in Los Angeles by a family of witches, and now lives in LA and Berlin. Their writing has appeared in Triple Canopy, frieze, The White Review, Topical Cream, Spike, and is anthologized in Whitechapel: Documents of Contemporary Art.

Legacy Russell is a curator and writer. Born and raised in New York City, she is the Executive Director & Chief Curator of the experimental new media, art, and performance institution The Kitchen. Formerly she was the Associate Curator of Exhibitions at The Studio Museum in Harlem.
