Still I Rise: An Exhibition In Support of École Monique Apple
Just like moons and like suns, With the certainty of tides, Just like hopes springing high, Still I'll rise. – Maya Angelou, From: And Still I Rise: A Book of Poems, 1978
Ten artists unite to support École Monique Apple in its mission to combat the social and professional marginalization of refugee women in Paris. The school offers specialized language learning programs tailored for women whose proficiency in French is a primary obstacle to employment. As the initial step towards professional integration, the training endeavors to overcome language barriers, both written and spoken, facilitating independence, fostering networking opportunities, and promoting socialization to ensure sustained and fulfilling integration.
The exhibition, curated by Anna Prudhomme and organized by Elisabeth Bettencourt and Jani Gerard, will open in Paris on April 11th, 2024, at Le Pavé d’Orsay, located at 48 rue de Lille, on view until April 14th. An online sale is featured on Speciwomen’s viewing room for one week.
