Support Sister Sister: A Film about The Lijadu Sisters
“I’m making a film called Sister, Sister — a love letter, a reckoning, and a remembrance of my aunties, The Lijadu Sisters, Kehinde and Taiwo, who were once called “Nigeria’s answer to the Pointer Sisters,” but whose musical legacy is so much more.
Radical, genre-defying, and spiritually in sync — twin sisters who made music that was always ahead of its time.
This film is a deeply personal project. I’ve been documenting my aunts since 2018. I have deeply touching footage of them together mere months before Kehinde passed, and now I’m following Taiwo as she finds her voice again — reclaiming her sound, and preparing to perform solo for the first time.
It’s a story about legacy, sisterhood, memory and survival. About what it means to keep going. About what’s passed down and what gets reimagined."
