Interview by Speciwomen — March 2016

Speciwomen: Tell us about yourself.

Liv Henneguier: I am eighteen and I love life. Unfortunately, I am still a high school student, or fortunately, actually. I live in Paris. My dad is French and my mom Swedish. I love to have a double culture!

S: How did you get into cinema?

LH: I wanted to be an actress, so I started as a walk on, extra and I quickly felt that movie sets were where I belonged. I have always admired this field. One day, while I was extra with my best friend Maya (who is also passionate about cinema and who I am convinced will be a great movie maker), a woman named Joanna Grudzinska came up to me, and asked me to come to the audition of her short movie Les Loups Solitaires En Mode Passif in which I got the part of Elisa. It was a real dream for me. After this beautiful movie, another director named Julia Kowalski contacted me because she saw the short. She wanted me to audition for her movie and I got the part. This woman might have been the engine of one of the most joyful moments of my life. 18 years old, shooting in a long feature and getting the main part is pretty insane. Especially in her movie, Raging Rose. Julia might be one of the most wonderful people I have met in my life, I rarely meet such talented, funny, ambitious women. I think that she is going to rise, we are going to hear about her. Raging Rose came out in theaters on the 17th of February, in France.

S: Who inspires you?

LH: I don’t think that somebody inspires me truly, more than life, in general. If I were to give a name, I think about Henri Verneuil’s movies which always made me travel, shifted me away, or Scorsese. But the actress who I will always be fascinated by is Liv Ulhman.

S: Are you working on anything currently?

LH: At the moment I am working on my final exams! Nothing else is really concrete for the moment.

S: Do you have future plans?

LH: As I said before, nothing really concrete. I want to enjoy life, keep meeting people and become an actress.

S: How has womanhood impacted you?

LH: Being a woman is badass except for one week of the month! To me, we hold a power and every woman gets away with a little something, proper to her gender.

Liv Henneguier is an actress, known for her roles in: Raging Rose, Loups solitaires en mode passif, and Cross.
