Sophie Calle celebrates in her own way the 50th anniversary of the death of Pablo Picasso, taking over the entire four floors of the Hôtel Salé with a unique exhibition proposal.
Organized in four stages corresponding to the four stages of the museum, the exhibition It's Up To You, My Darling takes the counter to the multiple events of the “Celebration Picasso 1973-2023” which honor the Spanish artist. Sophie Calle's exhibition takes a curious and offbeat on a choice of emblematic works by Picasso whose images or memory the artist summons through of a personal story which takes place on the ground floor of the museum. With this exhibition, which unfolds over the floors independently of Picasso and readily takes on a character retrospective, Sophie Calle explores some of the themes which are central to it such as the deprivation of sight or the disappearance by resorting to the archive and writing as sources and raw materials of its creation. Taking up the challenge of the invitation, the artist questions with wit and depth the critical reception of his work and his concern for transmission to future generations.
