The MEP Studio, a space dedicated to emerging creation, presents Femme Actuelle, the first solo exhibition in an institution by the artist My-Lan Hoang-Thuy.
Practicing art in multiple forms, My-Lan Hoang-Thuy abolishes the boundaries between mediums and summons, in her compositions, photography, painting, drawing as well as graphic arts. If her works all follow a similar structure – they are made from acrylic paint – their aesthetics, on the other hand, free themselves from a pre-established pattern.
For Femme Actuelle, My-Lan Hoang-Thuy exhibits a selection of works produced between 2019 and today. Only her body, a recurring figure in the works presented here, establishes a thematic continuity. She modulates her anatomy, lengthens or shortens it, diversifies her poses, and thereby reverses any attempt to objectify her body.
