Jade Bassien-Capsa est une chercheuse en Histoire de l'Art et en Cultural Studies. Par le biais de recherche, de la photographie et du zine making, elle s'est intéressée aux Girls Studies, l'étude des jeunes filles. Pendant deux ans, elle a étudié les chambres d'adolescentes comme lieu de socialisation et de création. Comme beaucoup de choses qui touchent à la vie des adolescentes, ces espaces sont souvent décriés, moqués, invisibilisés ou sexualisés. Par ce projet Jade Bassien-Capsa mêle recherches académiques, rencontres et discussions dans les chambres à sa propre création artistique. Elle souhaite mettre en lumière ces endroits si secrets, intimes, primordiaux et fondateurs pour l'identité de ces adolescentes.

Translation: Jade Bassien-Capsa is a researcher in Art History and Cultural Studies. Through the medium of research, of photography and of zine making, she is interested in Girl Studies, the study of young girls. Over two subsequent years, Bassien-Capsa studied the bedrooms of teenagers as a space for socializing and creating. Like a lot of things adjacent to the life of teenagers, those spaces are often discredited, mocked, undermined or sexualized. Through this project Bassien-Capsa mingles academic research, encounters and conversations in bedrooms to her own artistic practice. Her hope is to shine a light on those secret, intimate, primary spaces that are fundamental to the teenage identity.
